Southwest China's Yunnan Province earned 84.37 million US dollars from the export of 7,744 tons of edible mushrooms in 2005.
With the existence of 800 kinds of edible mushrooms and a total storage volume of 500,000 tons, the province's mushroom exports account for 70 percent of the country's total, according to statistics from the Yunnan provincial business bureau.
Yunnan has set up 400 enterprises and firms engaging in mushroom processing and trade. So far, the province has exported mushroom goods to more than 40 countries and regions across the world.
There are 2,000 kinds of edible mushrooms in the world and 938 in China. |
